Capital Development Authority (CDA) is likely to launch Overseas Pakistanis Housing Scheme measuring 10,000 kanal of land in the areas including Kurri Model Village, Kurri Road and Agro Farm Scheme.

CDA’s Member Land Khushal Khan said they have initiated a land survey in many areas after preparation of proposal for Overseas Pakistanis Housing Scheme.

This residential scheme for overseas Pakistanis would be developed in line with the international practices in which 5,000 plots – -5-marla, 10-marla and one kanal — would be offered on instalments that would be paid in dollars. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar during a meeting in the recent past also asked CDA to develop housing scheme for overseas Pakistanis to provide them profitable, safe and secure investment and residential opportunities.

CDA is hopeful that it would earn billions of rupees through this housing scheme as foreign investors are showing strong and tangible interest in investment opportunities in Pakistan, including in the real estate sector due to the visible and internationally recognized economic progress achieved by the country.

Ashgabat 2017: A Historic Moment for Turkmenistan

It will be a historic moment for Turkmenistan, as Ashgabat 2017 will be the first major multi-sport event to be hosted in Turkmenistan. The vision after these games will be for the city of Ashgabat and the wider country to host future major sporting events at an international level. Diversified but integrated activities are in full swing throughout the country for the successful hosting of 5th AIMAG. H.E. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is taking keen interest in the preparations of 5th AIMAG.

In 2010, the Olympic Council of Asia, the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan and the administration of Ashgabat city signed an agreement to stage the 5th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in September 2017.

5th Asian Indoor Game’s Superiority

In addition to Asian countries, for the first time in the history of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, Oceania was also included in the Games, bringing the participating countries to 64.
The Ashgabat 2017 brand has been created which is based on its traditional design. It represents Turkmenistan’s journey from the past to the future through health, inspiration, friendship along the great Silk Road. Moreover, the Ashgabat 2017 Mascot is based on the Turkmen national animal the Alabai. It is a fun and endearing character who will help to spread the message of the games and welcome people of all ages to Turkmenistan.

Main Concept

The concept of these games is to promote the ideas of peace and humanism in contemporary world and society, the principles of good neighborliness, friendship and brotherhood among people, as well as the unifying and consolidating role of sport.

Media Friendly

Ashgabat Olympic Complex is media friendly and broadcasting from the Ashgabat Olympic Complex has been made easy by the clever design and construction of technical infrastructure. It allows broadcasters to use the facilities at many venues without the need to bring in large broadcast vans, which is the most common method, but to simply plug necessary equipment into the to the permanent circuits in the complex, and, using the integrated production studios, to broadcast live in Turkmenistan or internationally. This is leading edge thinking and technology.

5O Days to Go

With only 50 days to go until the historic Ashgabat 2017 commence in the Turkmenistan capital, excitement is brewing all over the country. Hosting of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts highlights the national policy of Turkmenistan which uses sport as a tool to promote international diplomacy and a healthy lifestyle for society. Sport and the Olympic Movement play a significant role in developing friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation between people.

Supreme Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan is making every possible effort to ensure that the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will be held at the highest level so all participants will enjoy the hospitality and cordiality of the Turkmen land. Sport is an effective and flexible instrument for the promotion of peace and development. The outcome document of the United Nations Summit for the post-2015 development agenda notes that a sport is an important factor for sustainable development. The UN recognizes the significant contribution of sports into peace and development, as it promotes the establishment of the principles of tolerance and respect, promoting the empowerment of women and youth, as well as health, education and social integration.

2017 will be marked for Turkmenistan by a major sporting event V Asian Indoors and Martial Arts Games. On December 19 2010, as a result of the signing in Kuwait of the Memorandum between the OCA and the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat received the right to host V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

Forthcoming in September 2017, the Ashgabat Asian Games will be the largest in a series of Asian games, going beyond the continental competitions: the first time the teams not only in Asia but also from Oceania will attend it. The5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will be held at the largest sites of the Olympic Village, which has no analogues in Central Asia. Turkmen president’s song becomes Asian Indoor Games’ anthem.

Golden Saying of President H.E. Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov

Love for sport is the love for life. Sport is the source of power, vitality and health. Let our sporting prowess and the accomplishments of Turkmenistan be recognised throughout the sporting world.

It is really a hard-luck of Nepal that it is a land-lock country bordering China in the north and India in the south, east, and west. The distance between Nepal and Bangladesh is just 27 km but Nepal does not share border with Bangladesh and same is the situation with Bhutan. The Indian state of Sikkim is located between Nepal and Bhutan. In short India is the only country which shares direct boundary with Nepal from three sides and on the basis of this natural helplessness it always exploits Nepal and treats it as a colony of it. Indian interference in Nepal has become a continuous basis of conflict between the government of Nepal and the people of Nepal. The people of Nepal are of opinion that Indian interference in their internal as well as in foreign affairs is depriving Nepal of its own identity and sovereignty. It is because of Indian interference in Nepal that the whole social, political and economic set up of Nepal is heading towards a catastrophic ending. Unfortunately the Nepalese politicians have unwillingly accepted Indian hegemony. The editorial of a Nepalese newspaper said, “Our leaders have a tendency to become ultra nationalist when they are out of power, but as they come in power their position changes and they become Indian surrogates. Most of the Nepalese leaders are guided by selfish motives and they try to climb an easy ladder to power through India. This is one of the main reasons that Nepal is subjected to undue Indian pressures, harassments and humiliations. Nepali political parties are using Indian and China cards as tool to grab the opportunity to come in govt. India wants political instability in Nepal. Every government in Nepal designs close relation with India and ignores China under Indian pressure.” An analyst on Nepal-India affairs said in an article, “The people of Nepal hate their Indian neighbors because Indians take Nepalese to be stupid hill dwellers who are always jealous of the progress Indians have made. Nepalese think of Indians as charlatans, frauds and cheats because the Indians follow the saying that a dead Indian can fool ten Nepalese.” Indian interference in Nepal has become a serious threat to the law and order situation in the country too. The hidden agents of R&AW are always there to damage Nepal’s repute at international level. The government of Nepal never seems willing to give these agents a hard time or to take them to task for their mischievous activities; disappearance of a retired officer of Pakistan Army from Nepal is also one of such heinous activities. Col (R) Zahir, after his retirement from Pakistan Army in 2014, started applying for job through emails in different international companies. Indian intelligence agencies picked up his bio data from there and hatched a conspiracy to trap him by offering a UN affiliated job in Nepal.

Some of the Nepalese journalists have raised their voices against abduction of Col (R) Zahir Habib in very bitter tones. Swaviman Nepal is an esteemed magazine of Nepal. It said in a report, “India is using Nepalese territory for leveling its scores with its opponents. Uncontrolled abductions of foreigners from Nepalese territory by Indian intelligence suggest that Nepal is no more a safe tourist resort and anybody could be abducted or killed by Indian sleuths.” Many months have passed but nothing has yet been done by the government of Nepal for the rescue of the missing Pakistani. Recently the wife of Col (R) Zahir Habib wrote a letter to UNHRCP regarding mysterious disappearance of her husband from Lumbini, a border town of Nepal where he was called for a job interview by Mark Thomson a senior Recruiter of ‘Stratsolutions.biz’ on 6th April 2017. It was her second letter to the authorities. In the beginning lines of her letter she says, “I am once again writing to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights with the hope that Humanity is still alive and I along with my children am not living in a lawless world with no justice and no compassion. I have learnt that there are very convincing indications of involvement of Indian nationals in my husband’s mysterious disappearance from Nepal and evidences collected so far strongly suggest incident as a premeditated kidnap plot.” What else could a helpless woman do for her missing husband? Let us pray for her husband but apparently it seems that all her efforts are going to be wasted as the government of Nepal seems totally helpless in this regard. This slavish behavior of the government of Nepal and of the politicians there and the helplessness of the security forces of Nepal must be alarming and eye-opening to the people of Nepal. If no one in Nepal tried to put a check on the increasing interference and influence of India, this country of beautiful people and wonderful mountains would become an Indian colony. Keeping the neighbouring countries under pressure, particularly the countries weaker in strength and resources, has been an old practice of India. Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka are the worst example in this regard. Sri Lanka is very fortunate that it has a nation blessed with marvelous will and determination. It is simply because of this determination and courage that the people of Sri Lanka did not let India succeed in its heinous plans of making Sri Lanka an Indian colony. The people of Nepal must learn a lesson from Sri Lanka. They also have all talents but they seem lacking courage in this regard.

A lot has been talked and commented on the attestation of the famous Qatari Prince’s letter by the Pakistani Ambassador to Qatar.Different comments were heard in the talks shows that attestation was the job of the Consular and not that of the Ambassador, as such, as to why the Ambassador did it.Mr. Javed Hafeez is our ex Ambassador having served in many countries with a clear record. The serious readers read this intellectual as he touches issues based on his long foreign service experience.Recently, he wrote that though the Ambassadors generally don’t attest documents, yet under no law or procedure there was any bar on an ambassador in doing so.Quite a good reference.
2.Qatari Prince, as per the recent reports, refused to meet the JIT in the Pakistan Embassy Doha.He contended that in doing so, he was accepting the jurisdiction of the Pakistani laws over him. But in fact, this refusal, though not said, was his “royal status”.Instead, he wished he be visited in his royal palace.By attesting a document; a Consular or an Ambassador, legally verifies, confirms and certifies that the person issuing and signing the document in-question “signed before me”.Very logical question arises while getting his letter attested by the Ambassador, did the signatory Prince did visit the Pakistan Embassy or,that purpose, our Ambassador went to the royal palace taking with him the official stamp?Or as generally happens in our beloved country, just a paper came on the table of the Ambassador in the Embassy and without caring who had actually signed that, attested it verifying “signed before me”?I am sure there must not be any rule or formality for an Ambassador not to go to any royal palace, but will the learned Javed Hafeez also update his serious readers if there also is any written rule or procedure “allowing” the Ambassador to take with him the official embassy stamp to a personal palace?
3.A few years back, I got 8-9 Documents viz Affidavits, Undertakings etc attested on huge cost from the Pakistan Embassy Bahrain.I signed, as per the practice, in front of the Consular in presence of two witnesses presenting all of us copies of our Passports/IDs.When I presented these attested Docs to the Government Department concerned in Lahore, the same were rejected on the ground that the Embassies attestation was not acceptable.I was advised to get those attested from a “Justice of Peace” situate at Raiwind Road Lahore which I had comply with.I took up the issue with the Federal Ombudsman when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs submitted that the Missions can’t take responsibility of the contents of their attested Documents. The Federal Ombudsman nodding to this contention of the Ministry, dismissed my complaint. The Federal Ombudsman, the protector of citizens rights, did not discuss or even touch in his Final Order my million worth question that if missions attestation was not acceptable, why then to keep on huge national expense the Consular Sections world over and that as to why huge money was charged from the people by these Consulates if their attestation was of no worth.

Is there anything like true-love in relations among countries internationally? No! there is nothing like that. Internationally, the relationship between two countries revolves only around interests and benefits and nothing else. Friends of today might be foes of tomorrow and enemies of yesterday might be friends of today. At international level, the other name of friendship and love is ‘necessity’ and the basic ingredients which make the relationship everlasting are forgiveness, forbearance and tolerance. Do you remember the two darkest rather cruelest days in the modern history of mankind; August 6 and August 9, 1945 when at the order of American President Harry S. Truman the United States dropped nuclear weapons on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki which killed at least 129,000 people and left countless injured. Various reports on the incidents say, “Within the first two to four months following the bombings, the acute effects of the atomic bombings had killed 90,000 to 146,000 people in Hiroshima and 39,000 to 80,000 in Nagasaki; roughly half of the deaths in each city occurred on the first day. During the following months, large numbers died from the effect of burns, radiation sickness, and other injuries, compounded by illness and malnutrition.” But astonishingly today the United States is Japan’s closest ally and Japan relies on the U.S. for its national security to a high degree. The two countries have very strong and close economic ties and stand side by side at every crucial juncture. Today the United States and Japan have firm and very active political, economic and military relationships. The United States considers Japan to be one of its closest allies and partners. It is said that Japan is one of the most pro-American nations in the world. This all shows that Japan has turned a blind eye to the nuclear bombing incident in its own larger interest. In other words we may say that Japan is acting upon that famous saying, ‘love me love my dog’. Same is the case with Russia and the Soviet states which once used to constitute the USSR. Internationally there is no bond of ‘true love’ among the countries and the nations. All depends upon needs and requirements. Sometimes, we, the people of Pakistan are also misguided by the false notion of ‘inter-nations true love’ but sooner or later, facts and circumstances bring us back to the world of bitter realities. Be it the Arab Kingdom, Iran, Turkey, UK or USA and even China, all our relationship with them revolves around a system of mutual needs and requirements. Practically there is no rule of ‘do good, have good’ when we analyze relationship between two countries. If it were the practical rule, Afghanistan would have been the closest friend of Pakistan and certainly the most obliged one. Let us cast a look at Pak-US relationship in the same context. Even a blind man can understand the reality that Pakistan and USA are so much needed and required by each other that they could never be at logger’s head even if they desire. In other words this Pak-US marvelous ‘friendship’ could never be broken unless until US’ dream of sustaining its position as World’s only Super Power is alive. For some people in Pakistan this news could give birth to some apprehensions that Trump administration is planning to harden its approach towards Pakistan. The Reuters has recently published a detailed report on the issue. According to the report the Trump administration intends to expand U.S. drone strikes, redirect or withhold some aid to Pakistan and perhaps eventually downgrade Pakistan’s status as a major non-NATO ally. The aim and objective of this shift is to crack down on so-called Pakistan-based militants who are allegedly launching attacks in neighboring Afghanistan. Commenting upon the report, Abid Saeed, Pakistan’s press minister in US said, “Singling out Pakistan and pinning the entire blame on Pakistan for the situation in Afghanistan is neither fair nor accurate, nor is it borne out by the ground realities.” Abid Saeed is very true in his analysis; stamping Afghanistan as an innocent country and branding Pakistan as a rogue country is neither fair nor accurate and certainly not true to the ground realities. Such actions of the Trump administration would do nothing but widen the distances between US and Pakistan temporarily. It seems that Mr. Trump in his heat and haste has forgotten that Pakistan continues to occupy a strategic position in the United States’ interests in Central and South Asia and is extensively engaged in vital social, economic, scientific and military relationswith Pakistan. Moreover the US is one of Pakistan’s largest donors of foreign assistance and after China, the second-largest supplier ofmilitary equipmentto Pakistan. In case the US withholds some aid to Pakistan and tries to downgrade Pakistan’s status as a major non-NATO ally, it would cause a severe damage to US’ own interests in the region. As far as the matter of drone attacks is concerned, there is no difference between drone-attacks and suicide-bombing; both kill a lot of innocent ones along with a few targeted ones. The faces behind suicide-bombing and drone attacks are widely hated particularly by the relatives of the innocent ones.

The Republic of Azerbaijan is a brave country which people have been fighting against illegal occupation and brutality of Armenia since 1994. Most recent continued killing of innocent children once again shows Armenia crimes against humanity and serious violation of international law. Despite the announcement of the ceasefire in 1994 the Armenian army continues killing children in Azerbaijan. In the past years so many children have been remained prime target of Armenian aggression and terrorism.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and offered his deep condolences to Ilham Aliyev in connection with the murder of two Azerbaijani civilians in the shelling of the territories, adjacent to the line of contact between the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops, by the Armenian armed forces, as well to the families of the victims.

H.E. Ilham Aliyev noted that this is a military crime, once again committed by the Armenian armed forces against Azerbaijani civilians. This bloody crime committed against the civilian population is another manifestation of the Armenian atrocities. All responsibility for this military crime rests with the political leadership of Armenia.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the provocation staged by Armenia on July 4 on the contact line between the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops in Fizuli region, which resulted in killing of two Azerbaijani citizens, including a 2-year-old girl.

“This despicable atrocity clearly demonstrated that the provocations which Armenia follows at the border and front regions with heavy weaponry, while occupying one-fifth of Azerbaijan’s territory, target Azerbaijani civilian population, particularly women and children in violation of international law and humanitarian values, Turkish foreign ministry added.

“International community should acknowledge the fact that this deliberate and systematic policy pursued by Armenia towards fuelling violence is the main obstacle to the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and put pressure on Armenia to withdraw its troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan,” said the statement.

Pakistan being a strategic ally of Azerbaijan also shows spirits of solidarity by condemning the targeting of civilians in Azerbaijan by Armenia armed forces in which among others, a 2 year old girl has lost her life. Iran, Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC), US politicians strongly condemned Armenia.

Religious confessions and communities in Azerbaijan sharply condemned the killing of civilians by Armenian militaries

“The everyday shelling of civilians despite the ceasefire, murders and making population to live under the threat of death once again proves that it is time to sharply change attitude towards the Armenian aggressors and take resolute steps against them on the international arena,” It urged international organizations, including the UN, the OSCE Minsk group and world leaders to punish the Armenian aggressors.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding regions. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities. The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations.

Armenia still controls fifth part of Azerbaijan’s territory and rejects implementing four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding districts.

The Minsk Group, the activities of which have become known as the Minsk Process, spearheads the OSCE’s efforts to find a peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It is co-chaired by France, the Russian Federation, and the United States. Although the OSCE Minsk Group deals with the issue for over two decades, its activities have brought no breakthrough results so far.

Armenia’s aspiration to occupy Azerbaijani lands and the use of the most insidious and illogical methods to achieve this is a clear example of the Armenian hypocrisy. Common people, NGOs, Think-Tanks and religious leaders strongly condemned Armenian aggression against Azerbaijanis people living in occupied areas.

“In the occupied territories, 600 schools, where 140,000 students studied, 65 vocational schools for 53,000 students and 2 higher education institutions were destroyed. 700 health centers which include a hospital for 800 people, polyclinics, maternity homes, drugstores and emergency hospitals were destroyed,” the stamen reads, adding that total economic damage to healthcare is about $ 1.2 billion. Some 903 state registered, 1500 non registered historical and cultural monuments, 26 museums, 8 painting exhibitions, 4.6 million books and 927 libraries, 85 art schools, 20 cultural palaces, 4 state theaters, which belonged to Azerbaijan were destroyed.

The most inhuman act was committed in Khojaly. “Thus, 613 people, including 63 children, 106 women, 70 old people, were killed during the events of February 25-26 1992. Some 130 children lost one of their parents, 487 were injured, including 76 children. 1,275 people were captured and 150 Khojali residents went missed.” It is an act of terrorism and genocide. The Armenian state has once again seriously violated the fundamental norms and principles of international law.

“The Armenian side violates the Hague conventions on the protection of the civilian population, the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Victims of War, and the UN Security Council resolutions during the armed conflicts (wars), continuing its repulsive and aggressive policy.” Moreover, Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding districts.

Today July 7, 2017 is also a historic day on which Armenian militaries invaded Agdere during the beginning of the Nagorno-Karabakh war. Located in the north of Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh region, Agdere was always a high priority for Armenian occupants. Although Azerbaijani troops liberated the region from the Armenian invaders on July 4, 1992, Armenian forces re-occupied it again on July 7, 1993 due to hard political situation in Azerbaijan. Today, Azerbaijan controls several villages of Agdere, but most part of it, including Agdere city, still suffer from the Armenian occupation.

Agdere was an important agricultural region of Azerbaijan. The economy was dominated by the viticulture, grain-growing, tobacco cultivation and cattle breeding. Mostly mountainous Agdere, which also has lowland areas in east, is covered with forests by 44 percent. The main rivers of Agdere are Tartar and Khachinchay.

The region is rich in mineral resources, such as polymetallic ores, limestone and gypsum. The Mehmana polymetallic deposit in Agdere contains a lot of limestone and plaster reserves. Moreover, coal deposits were found in the region in the late 1980s.

Like other regions of Nagorno-Karabakh, Agdere also was home to many historical monuments. Among the well-known architectural monuments of the region are the Albanian temple Ganjasar in the Vangli village, Urek temple (12th century), Hatam Malik tower near the Talysh village, Holy Iako temple in the Kolatag village (year 635), the temple at upper flow of the Tartar river (13th century), and many other ancient temples, bridges and other monuments.

Before the occupation, two districts, 57 villages, 67 clubs, 51 libraries, 30 secondary schools, seven hospitals and a professional lyceum were located in the Agdere region, having an area of 1,705 square kilometers. Unfortunately, all of them were destroyed by the Armenian occupants after invasion of Agdere.

Demographic data say that over 14,000 Azerbaijanis were living in the region before its occupation by Armenia. Regrettably, now all of them are internally displaced persons, who had to leave their native homes in Agdere and move to other regions of Azerbaijan due to the Armenian aggression.

Due to Armenia-triggered Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, 20 percent of Azerbaijani internationally recognized territory still remains under occupation. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed during the war and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities.

Although the UN Security Council adopted four resolutions on withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding regions of Azerbaijan, aggressor Armenia illegally remains in those lands. Today, when Azerbaijan does its utmost to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Armenia does the opposite the aggressor makes everything to preserve the unacceptable status quo in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Concluding Remarks

The Republic of Azerbaijan is a brave country whereas Armenia is a coward state which always believes in terrorism, genocide and widespread killings of innocent civilians of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is responsible country and Armenia is irresponsible state which always believes in conspiracy and confrontation. Azerbaijan is the ultimate reflection of martyrdom whereas Armenia stands for human miseries and national crises. Azerbaijan is center of inter-cultural dialogue whereas, Armenia is place of internal rivalries.

The most recent provocations of Armenia are a horrendous crime against humanity. It is serious violation of international law. It is an act of terrorism and genocide of Armenia state. It is an act of terrorism and genocide of Armenia state. It demands further condemnation, isolation and marginalization. It demands immediate resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Every year the Annual ISNA Convention brings together thousands of Muslims and people of other faiths from all over the world. This year the 55th Convention took place from June 30 to July 3, 2017 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Chicago, IL, USA. ISNA stands for Islamic Society of North America. The convention featured more than 200 speakers, sessions, round table discussions, bazaar with 550 booths, entertainment, banquets, carnival, and much more but the most remarkable thing of the convention was a speech delivered by President World Kashmir Awareness Forum Dr. Ghulam N. Mir. Through his speech Dr. Mir conveyed a very strong message to the world that that Indian occupation of Kashmir is by far the most consequential political blunder the Indian government has made. He said, “Kashmir is a large, resourceful, cultured and multicultural nation. It needs no Indian interference. It fulfills all the parameters of a viable sovereign state as per United Nations charter. To deny that right of sovereignty to millions of people of Kashmir is a travesty of justice. It violates the letter and intent of the UN charter. By refusing to implement the UN Security Council resolutions, India violates its international obligation. These resolutions demand cessation of the military actions, demilitarization and allowing the people of Kashmir to decide their future through an unfettered referendum, or plebiscite under UN supervision.” In short the speech of Dr. Mir succeeded in drawing the attention of the international community towards the flaming issue of the Indian Occupied Kashmir, vigorously and vehemently. During the Convention Dr MA Dhar showed a short video about the atrocities being committed by the Indian Army on the Kashmiri population. After the video Dr. Dhar said in his address that the people in the Indian Occupied Kashmir have to face a lot of cruelties and atrocities at the hands of the Indian security forces every day. He stressed that it was time to mitigate the sufferings of the Kashmiri people, who had been pledged UN-sponsored plebiscite, which has been denied to them.

The time chosen for the Annual ISNA Convention also played a very important role in making Kashmir issue alive in the hearts of people as on 8th of July, the lovers of Kashmir are observing first death anniversary of Burhan Wani, commonly popular in Kashmir with the loving title of the Poster Boy. He was popular among the Kashmiris due to his activity on social media where he advocated against Indian rule in Kashmir. He was killed in a fake encounter with the Indian security forces on 8 July 2016. Burhan was the voice of the whole of Kashmiri youth. The Indian security forces portrayed him as a terrorist and a militant and announced a bounty of ten lakh on his arrest but in fact he was neither a terrorist nor a militant; he was a reaction against the cruelty of Indian security forces. His friends, his neighbours and the members of his family are a witness that he was never involved in any terrorist activity. It was his deep-rooted popularity that his funeral was attended by thousands of people and after his murder at the hands of security forces, Kashmir remained in a state of trouble and turmoil for more than six months. According to a report, after his death widespread protests erupted in the Kashmir valley and unrest prevailed there for nearly half a year. More than 90 people died and over 15,000 civilians and more than 4,000 security personnel were injured as a result of the public protest and agitation. Analysts describe the situation after his death as ‘the worst unrest in the region since the 2010 Kashmir unrest.’ The Indian government was so frightened of the situation that it had to impose curfew in the valley for 53 consecutive days. A very strong and intense protest is again expected on Burhan Wani’s first death anniversary on 8th July as the brave people of Kashmir have Wani alive in their hearts and minds. They would never let memories of Burhan Wani die as he had taught them how to live with heads up.
