Islamabad: CDA to develop recreational spot ‘Kalanjar Valley’

Striving to provide more and more recreational places, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to develop new recreational place under the name of Kalanjar Valley near Faisal Mosque in the foot of Margalla Hills.

Moreover, a plan to extend and upgrade present recreational spot at Shakarparian has been made and service of a consultant firm was hired to prepare designs of both places.

ISLAMABAD: India may claim the world’s biggest blackout, but in neighbouring Pakistan an endemic energy crisis blamed on years of mismanagement cripples the economy and makes millions of lives a daily misery.

Six weeks after the new prime minister in Islamabad promised the shortage would be his top priority, blackouts have reached a peak – reportedly up to 16 hours a day in urban areas and as much as 22 hours a day in the rural areas.

Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Senator Faisal Raza Abidi on Sunday asked the CJP to quit for taking oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) and for alleged involvement of his son in a financial impropriety case.

Addressing a press conference at the PPP Secretariat on Sunday, Abidi alleged that the son of the CJP, Dr Arsalan Iftikhar, had misused the Chief Justice House, Islamabad. He questioned if former CJP Dogar was held responsible for the crime of his daughter, referring to the undue increase in marks of Farah Dogar in FBISE exams, why could not the present CJP be held responsible for the crimes of his son. Abidi said the annulment of the contempt of court law had laid a basis for confrontation between two major pillars of the state.

WASHINGTON: Pakistan is a country which is in a slow meltdown, an eminent American expert has told lawmakers, a development which she argued would be extraordinarily bad for the region and for the United States.

Islamabad: Local engineer develops device to run car on water

ISLAMABAD: Sellers of immoveable property to pay 0.5% advance tax, besides CGT

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has clarified since Capital Gains Tax (CGT) ranging between 5 percent to 10 percent has been imposed only on disposal of properties held for a period up to two years therefore, advance tax at the rate of 0.5 percent is also to be collected from sellers who held the immoveable properties for a period up to two years.

Capital gains on immovable property: Prior to the 18th Constitutional Amendments effective from April 19, 2010 entry 50 of the Federal Legislative List contained in Part-I of the Fourth Schedule to the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan empowered the Federal Legislature to levy taxes on the capital value of the assets, not including taxes on capital gains on-3-immoveable property.
