Coal has met the energy needs of humans for centuries. The decline of this fuel resource started in the mid 20th century when large reservoirs of oil and gas were discovered. Despite the environmental degradation by the combustion of coal, most large economies of the world are dependent on its use. Countries like USA, China, India, Malaysia, Russia and Germany produce power by burning coal. Brushing aside allegations of receiving money from real estate tycoon Malik Riaz, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said;  I take oath on Quran I never get even a penny from Malik Riaz. Imran Khan categorically denied that any of his party member had taken money, reasoning if it happened he must have known that. The cricketer-turned politician said he would not let the judiciary to be toppled. He said a politician, sitting in Rawalpindi, should be ashamed of leveling baseless allegations. The Case for Education in Balochistan

Education is not only the path towards economic development and social progress but it essentially is also the push factor towards human excellence and intellectual liberation. It is the art of knowledge creation and the pursuit of unraveling the ultimate truths of universe, which intensely captivates human intellect. Education, if looked at objectively is the only way to achieve the God gifted potential of human mind, the brain power. Through education, and importantly the right kind of education, a process of openness of heart, mind and soul takes root. Moral consciousness, human sensitivity, social justice, tolerance, pluralism and an equality of all beings are some of the seeds it sows, in the fertile and raw brains. Keeping that process directed and goal oriented is a lifelong course, and ironically very few remain focused on the self exploratory path and that too by default and not by design. LAHORE: sub-standard housing societies eating up the historical city

The mushroom growth of ill-planned and sub-standard housing societies has marred the charm of the historical city of Lahore, as around 90 percent of the new housing schemes are built in violation with the set rules and regulations of development and maintenance.

Daily Times has learnt that of the 231 housing societies across the metropolis that have been approved by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), over 75 percent are either undeveloped or partially developed.
