Toyota unveils high-tech concept car

TOKYO: Toyota’s president unveiled a futuristic concept car resembling a giant smartphone to demonstrate how Japan’s top automaker is trying to take the lead in technology at the upcoming Tokyo auto show.

Toyota Motor Corp. will also be showing an electric vehicle, set for launch next year, and a tiny version of the hit Prius gas-electric hybrid at the Tokyo Motor Show, which opens to the public this weekend.

Islamabad Police launch stolen vehicle identification system

Islamabad Police have introduced a service at Rescue 15 through which one can know about status of vehicle whether it is genuine or stolen by simply sending an sms to 8521.

The formal inaugural of this system was made by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan here Saturday here at Rescue 15. ISLAMABAD: Depreciation limit boosted to 60% for import of used trucks and buses

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has enhanced the maximum limit of the depreciation from 50% to 60% on the import of old and used trucks, agricultural tractors, buses and vans.

The decision has been taken in line with a similar decision taken by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet in its meeting held on April 26, 2011 when the apex body while considering the summary regarding “Rationalising the Prices of Locally Manufactured Cars” decided vehicle to enhance the maximum limit of the depreciation to 60 percent on the import of used/secondhand trucks, agricultural tractors, buses and vans. Pakistani Auto dealers exploiting car import policy

KARACHI: The local car dealers are reportedly involved in prima facia violation of vehicle import policy that was formulated to facilitate overseas Pakistanis on their return to homeland, sources told Daily Times.

The dealers have been openly exploiting car import policy—transfer of residence, gift and personal baggage scheme — at large and importing thousands of used cars at the expense of billion of dollars of foreign exchange of the country, sources said.
