ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan Thursday arranged a dinner in honour of Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman, former Chairman of the commission in recognition of his services for higher education development in the country.
The dinner was hosted by the current HEC Chairman Dr. Javaid Laghari and was attended by the members of the commission, its Executive Director Prof Sohail Naqvi and public and private sector universities’ vice chancellors among other eminent scientists and educationists from across the country.
In his reception address, HEC Chairman Dr. Javaid Laghari commended Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman’s services for the uplift of science, technology and higher education in the country. He said, “Your vision, leadership and invariable hard work have invigorated the higher education sector in Pakistan and now it is poised to propel further and compete globally,” he added. “People come and go but their services rendered to humanity leave an indelible impact for decades to come”, he remarked further.
Prof. Sohail Naqvi, Executive Director of the Commission, also addressed on the occasion and assured the elite gathering of country’s intelligentsia that higher education commission’s projects, which near the number 400, started by Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman would be carried on as nation needs such initiatives to make social and economic progress.The Post
