ISLAMABAD: Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Dr Farooq Sattar has said three new schools for children of the OPs would be established within three months in major cities of the country, including Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said the ministry would launch more housing schemes for the OPs. The ministry would provide relief to the people within a short time, he said and added that the ministry had received remittances of Rs 7.5 billion from overseas during the current year, which will increase further in future.
He was of the view that representatives of the OPs should also be elected to the National and provincial assemblies. The minister said that over five million people were living abroad and the government will convince them for investment in home country for its development. The number of members of the current advisory committee would be enhanced to 10, he said.
He said concrete steps would be taken to resolve the immigration issues and to improve information centres for the benefit of OPs. Farooq Sattar said he would take up the compensation issue of Iraq and Kuwait war victims with concerned authorities to resolve the issue soon.
