LAHORE: Properly dealing with the issues of overseas Pakistani workers has an impact at the micro as well macro levels and it will help shape up the economic situation of the country.
This was stated during a briefing “Overseas Pakistani Workers: Significance and Issues of Emigrants” organised by the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT). The briefing was held mainly for the Punjab MPAs. MNA Naseer Bhutta, Dr Sabur Ghayur, Dr Zafar Moin Nasir and Zia Awan addressed the occasion.
Naseer Ahmed Bhutta said the Pakistani expatriates were backbone of the country’s economy. He emphasised the need to formulate appropriate policies to curtail their problems. He said the issues and opinions shared by the experts regarding the overseas workers were of crucial importance especially at the provincial level.
Dr Zafar Moin Nasir, chief researcher, PIDE, said issues relating to overseas workers had an impact at the micro as well macro level in the country.
He said tackling these issues properly would improve economy as the level of remittances, agreeably a stable source for maintaining the foreign reserves at a certain level. Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, executive director, PILDAT, said he believed that it had been a very informative discussion especially due to the involvement of the experts and MPAs. MPAs Sajida Mir, Ayesha Javed, Arifa Khalid and Naseem Lodhi were present attended the event.
