Library containing reports on Thar coal project established

KARACHI: The Sindh government has set up a library at Clifton to facilitate those intending to invest in the Thar Coal Energy project. The library contains survey reports on the various blocks of Thar coal and study and feasibility reports of the project, said Advisor to Chief Minister for Mines and Mineral Development Dr Khatoomal Jeewan on Tuesday. He pointed out that the government has spent a lot of money on the preparation of the reports and it takes about three years to prepare a feasibility or study report. “The intending investors will save both time and money with the availability of these reports in the library,” he said. The advisor said that there is no better means to obtain cheap electricity other than from coal and an economic boom capable of making inroads into Pakistan’s problems can take place within five years of the implementation of Thar Coal Energy project. He said that hindrances regarding electricity rates and other related issues have been removed. Jeewan informed the media that the government will organise diploma courses in mining to help the people of Thar get jobs and the necessary steps in this regard have been taken at the Government College Mithi. app/ppi
