Overseas Pakistani Foundation distributes Rs116m amongst destitute expatriates

Overseas Pakistani’s Foundation (OPF) Managing Director Syed Nayyar Husnain Haide Tuesday said that OPF distributed an amount Rs116 million amongst 4,300 destitute families of deceased and disabled overseas Pakistanis so far.

Addressing the recipients of financial aid cheque at the distribution ceremony, the MD said that OPF had allocated Rs25 million for the year 2007-2008 as financial aid for overseas Pakistanis destitute families.

He said under this allocation, the OPF had distributed Rs7.5 million amongst 75 destitute families on Tuesday, while 211 families had been given financial aid cheque earlier.

Syed Nayyar Husnain said that OPF had also awarded scholarships of Rs12.248 millions amongst 9880 needy students, while rupees one million were distributed among 598 talented students as merit award.

He said OPF had accorded approval of 50 per cent concession in tuition fee for Overseas Pakistanis children in OPF educational institutions.

He said that OPF had planned to establish its public schools at various cities in the country, especially in the overseas Pakistanis concentration areas.

He offered to give admissionto the children of widows who wanted admission for their children in OPF Public Schools.
