Register your mobile device with PTA

According to a directive issued by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), mobile users now need to register their cellular devices with the authority.

Users can register their device via SMS by sending the IMEI number to 8484. Device’s IMEI number can be checked by dialling *#06# Moreover, registration can also be done via website or mobile application.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority had earlier sent notification to all mobile users asking them to register their smartphones and GSM devices before October 20.

Mobile phones not registered by the given date will be blocked by PTA.

You just go to mobile phone company office like Jazz, Telenor and Ufone and get it registered after paying tax. Otherwise you can dial *8484# from your mobile and register online after paying tax.

  7. I bought my mobile iPhone 8 in 2017 from Dubai and I have been using it since then. However, when I returned from DBX Aug 2019 my mob has been blocked. Pls let me know do I need to pay registration fee & if yes then how much. Also or there is some technical fault which needs to be addressed. Pls help. Thanks

You will have to pay duty if you want to use it in Pakistan. I suggest you visit nearest mobile operator’s franchise or help center to know how much tax you will have to pay, You can get it registered from there. In case you want to pay online dial *8484# from your mobile dial pad and follow instructions but you might not be able to do so as your phone has already been blocked.
