ISLAMABAD: Amid press reports regarding President Pervez Musharraf being tamed out of presidency after remaining the sole centre of power in the country for around nine years, the authorities concerned have started cleanliness work at the Attock Fort, The Frontier Post learnt on Thursday. Sources told this scribe that the authorities have started cleanliness work at the Attock Fort, falling in the administrative jurisdiction of Punjab Province adding not President Pervez Musharraf but once the close aides of Mian Nawaz Sharif who later continued to support Pervez Musharraf from his being Chief Executive to the President of the country might be the new guests at the highly fortified complex. Terming it repetition of history, the source said that once the most powerful personalities on political horizon of the country in recent past and close relatives to each other are most likely the new guests at the Fort. Attock Fort is situated about 101 km west of Islamabad on the left bank of Indus River. Nawaz Sharif was also kept at the Fort before he was released and packed to Saudi Arabia under an exile deal. Sources further said that there was complete uncertainty regarding the life of Pervez Musharraf as Head of the State. He further said in case Pervez Musharraf steps down as President of the country, Chairman Senate Mohammadmian Soomro would be made Acting President of the country till the new President takes oath. It is to mention here that Mohammadmian Soomro has worked in all the high profile capacities; from Governor Sindh to Chairman Senate, Caretaker Prime Minister of the country and now most probably as Acting Head of the State as he has been called back from Germany where he was on an official tour.
