At last, the development work in stalled Sector G-14, which was launched about nine years back, would kick off in the next few days.

A senior official of the Ministry of Housing told ‘ The News’ that the development work would be started in sub-Sector G-14\2 and G-14\3 within couple of days. “The development activity is being initiated on the land which is in our possession,” said Federal Secretary Housing and Works Kamran Lashari, when contacted by ‘The News’.

Giving details of the development plan Director General Federal Government Employees Housing Federation (FGEHF) Talaat Mian said that Rs1.5 billion has been awarded to the National Construction Limited giving them the deadline of 18 months to complete the development plan, which includes construction of roads, laying of electricity and gas pipelines, sewerage lines etc.

The FGEHF top official further informed that at present 1800 kanals out of the total land of two sub-sectors are in possession of the foundation, on which the development work would be carried out in the first phase.

he said that the Islamabad High Court had constituted a commission headed by retired Sessions Judge to settle dispute between the foundation and affected people about the Built up Property (BuP) which falls in two villages of these two sub-sectors.

He said that the commission now has 20 to 25 days remaining to decide the matter and give its recommendations. “Hopefully, we will be in a position to start development work as soon as the affectees vacate the remaining land.”

It may be pointed out here that the affectees of Sectors G-14/2 and G-14/3 moved the Islamabad High Court, as the housing foundation was about to announce the award. As a result, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui ordered constitution of a commission to settle the dispute.

About Sector G-14/1, Talaat Mian said earlier the dwellers of village falling in this sub-sector were not allowing the survey teams for carrying out survey of BuP. “But now we have achieved 60% success and hopefully all the issues with them will be resolved amicably,” he said.

The foundation official said as the machinery will starts moving in G-/14/2 and G-14/3, the dwellers of village in G-14/1 would also agree to vacate the area.

“Insha Allah, the allottees of Sector G-14 will start constructing their houses not later than 18 months,” he said.
