  • by

SENIOR Member All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and former Federal Minister Dr Sher Afgan has said that there was a democratic government and an independent judiciary in Pakistan; therefore, politicians should bring allegations against former President Musharraf to court instead of bad mouthing him.

Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club, he said that APML would present its manifesto this September. Dr Sher Afgan assured that Pervez Musharraf would return to the country before any form of elections held. He said that Pervez Musharraf does not fear facing the charges levelled against him provided that a fair trial was held. The current hotchpotch of corrupt politicians cannot solve the problems of people and the salvation of the country can only be brought about under the leadership of Pervez Musharraf, he added.

Sher Afgan He said that the Lal Masjid catastrophe was the work of Indian intelligence agency RAW, which would be revealed in its own good time.

He said that the late Nawab Akbar Bugti, in one of his interviews confessed that he had murdered 26 people with the first one at the age of 12, who was his maternal uncle. He maintained that instead of passing self assumed judgments in the Nawab Akbar Bugti case, a proper investigation and inquiry of this matter should be conducted and if Pervez Musharraf was found involved in the death of Nawab Akbar Bugti, he should be summoned to defend himself in the court.

Answering a question regarding NRO, he said that the NRO was created in the best interests of the country and its political infrastructure so that the top political leadership could be brought back to the country subject to the then prevalent fragile circumstances. He went on to say that both major political parties owe their presence in the country to the political wisdom of Pervez Musharraf and yet both of them are scoring point by opposing him in totality.

APML Chief Coordinator Chaudhry Shahbaz Hussain said that Pervez Musharraf would hold a press conference in London in September 2010 in relevance to the announcement of the APML manifesto and would return to Pakistan before the elections to face all the cases filed against him. He said that APML was already making headways into the political arena and has been in touch with PML-Q for the past three months. Progressive communication with Pir Pagara, MQM and other political parties of Sindh has been established too, he added. Maj-Gen. (Retd) Rashid Qureshi was also present at the press conference.
