According to a new study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition from Penn State University, a serving of pistachios each day as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease. Results showed that consuming pistachios significantly lowered total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and non-HDL cholesterol levels. Continue reading »
America‘s Pakistan-policy, or more appropriately Musharraf-policy, was fabricated by Vice President Dick Cheney, at the Old Executive Office Building, with input from the US Department of State at the Harry S Truman Building. Then came July 2008 and it all changed. Continue reading »
People rioting on the streets of Pakistan burning bills and ransacking WAPDA and KESC offices are now just as common as the unscheduled breakdowns which take up an increasingly large share of what passes for daily life here. It was Lee Kuan who famously suggested ’24 hour uninterrupted power supply’ when asked what would take Pakistan to become Singapore but obviously because Mr Kuan spoke a great deal of sense (and practised it too), no one thought it fit to even begin to start that journey on that long road. It was with concern that I have read a few newspaper articles where authors are ‘terrorising’ people that Talibanisation of Pakistan’s major cities is looming over our heads. They have based their ‘theories’ on an event where traders on Lahore’s Hall Road have burnt thousands of pornographic DVDs voluntarily. With a pinch of salt I have taken this news but I was more hurt with the analysis of the Continue reading »

Thank God for the never ending conspiracies and political intrigues for without them Islamabad would lose its reason to exist. Enter the latest move to take away the PML-Q throne (or whatever little is left of it) from the Chaudhrys of Gujrat and life is back to normal. Continue reading »
