During his visit to Pakistan the British Home Secretary Alan Johnson assured the Pakistan Government that the UK Border Agency is committed to providing an efficient visa service to its customers and is working hard to reduce visa processing times. He said he recognised and regretted the distress that had been caused to legitimate applicants due to IT problems experienced during the summer. During his visit to Pakistan, Mr Johnson toured the UK Border Agency offices in Islamabad and was reassured by staff that they will be able to reduce the waiting time for visa applications to 15 working days in November, in line with global customer service standards. The Home Secretary said “We have introduced tough checks around the world for anyone applying for a visa to enter the UK, with applications checked for fraud and forgery, with individuals fingerprinted and checked against a range of watch-lists. We have also taken every step to ensure the rules are clear, with advice on the application process is available on our website.”

gerrys dont allow people without appointment in khi and the gaurd at the enterence confirm name from the list of appointees so how can i go without prior appointment…
@donion, Bahi don’t waste time you don’t need an appointment reference number to collect your passport.. Just tell the guard tht you need to pick up the passport you got a call… thts it…go tomorrow after 12:30 pm..Gud Luck ..
@Junaid Malik as per ur directions i went to visa application centre and after 2pm i recieved my passport (as collection timing are 2 to 5) with 22 month student visa applied on 16 dec 2009 stamped 5 jan 2010…
my ticket number was 18 and i saw atleast 12 student who recieved their passport and 11 of them were issued visa only one didnt get he actually re-applied for visa(not an apeal)
i saw 4 student who applied on 23 dec and got passport today…

@atif, I have sent them a number of emails they didnt reply however, Gerrys VAC khi replied me that, they have not got my passport from British High Commission and as soon as they will get my passport then they would either call me or email me.
This is what I have got so far. 4 and half months exactly passed away since i submitted my passport after an allowed appeal ( student visa ).
To be honest, my friends are making fun of me as i told them that I would go to uk within 2 months , but ——– what should i say huh! lets see..

I applied on 16 Dec 2010 and i am still waiting … Any one who applied on 16th Dec. I have a friend who applied on 18th Dec and he got his passport back, his course start date was 2th Jan 2010 and my course start date is 18 jan 2010 but still they did not care about it. I have applied for student visa Tier 4 on Sep 15,09.I am a govt employee and have visited UK 3 times.I have been awarded a scholarship by a British University . I contacted Visa section at Abu Dhabbi several times,but the same reply that the checks are in process. The university deferred my study start date 3 times. Meanwhile I got 3 offer letter with different start dates.Sholud I send the latest one through Gerry,s or the older one is ok.I am in dilemma what to do as it took almost 4 months. Any advice may please.

@ali khan, Dear there is no tracking number for appeal allowed cases. I also asked the same thing from gerrys staff and they replied me that, there is no time frame as well as no tracking number. You just need to wait because there is no other solution except waiting.

Passport resubmitted on 11th of August 2009 I think before the Holy month of Ramadan and unfortunately, still waiting for the passport to be returned.

After so many emails and letters from the MP I received an email for my MP Which they received from UKBA stating “I have now received a response from the Entry Clearance Manager (ECM) who has confirmed that the determinations for the family were received at our Visa Section in the UK on 18 January. Our colleagues in Islamabad have been informed and are contacting the family requesting their passports. Once the passports are received they will be processed and returned to the applicants.” even though we have not yet been contacted by BHC. Let’s hope they speed up the rest of the porcess.

I applied for business visa on 2nd June 2009. Chased Abu Dhabi many many times but never any outcome. Just the same standard replies & always that they requested BHC Islamabad to look into my case.
Then last week made contact with BHC Islamabad myself & had it confirmed this week that my passport has been lost.
It has taken soooo long for them to advise this! Anyway I am happy to have some conclusion at last & can now move forward.

Abu Dhabi used to say the same things to me aswell. I think they are alittle helpless in these cases as the problem seems to lie within Islamabad.
I would suggest to all that have been waiting for as long as I was to contact BHC Islamabad directly & request them to investigate your application. They will start a search within the backlog to see if it is there, otherwise they will confirm lost & issue a letter. Then you can apply for a new passport.

Besides they said that, passports of several people had gone missing during the course of these passports’ movement from Islamabad to Abu Dhabi for visa processing and I think appeal winning case passports were retained their in Islamabad not Abu Dhabi.

the passports don’t get sent to Abu Dhabi in any case. They are kept in Islamabad. The misplacement of passports has happened within BHC Islamabad.
Best to speak with them directly re status of your application. I know that many people’s passports have been misplaced. Hopefully yours will be OK.
@Asif, yeah u r right pps r kept here in BHC isb….well, BHC isb don’t reply to emails do they? i feel so sry in ur case.. ummm asif sb did tey tell u through email or u called ‘em up? cuz they ain’t answering to any of my email….

BHC Islamabad never replied to any of my emails. Only Abu Dhabi did that, but then they were just standard replies.
BHC Islamabad didn’t contact me to advise they have lost my passport. I only found out after I contacted them to check to see if it had been lost. After they did a search, then they found that it had been misplaced. Best to speak with them on phone instead of emails.

Phone number is 0512012000. I called on this number & asked to speak with someone regarding missing passport. It might take you a few trys to get through to someone though.
After I explained my case they were quite helpful & I had an answer within a matter of days only.

As far as I can tell, the problem happening from here BHC, Islamabad because, when the British Foreign Secretary arrives in Pakistan he was asked too many quesitions by our Home Minister, President, Prime Minister and also interviwed by Dawn Newspaper regarding this visa mess, he kept saying that, “2009 was worst year for us and we are trying our best in order to clear backlog as well as issuance of visas“
Anyway, I think Under these circumstances we can not do anything. Today Inshallah I will make a phone to BHC islamabad and hope I will get a positive reply.

Guys, yar what kind of people they are ?? I called BHC at 10:15 AM to know about my passport he did not listen and directly put me to another line. Again I called him and I said “ Sir, I just want to know about my passport not for visa or anything else“
He replied: which kind of passport Pakistani or British? I said, Its pakistani passport.
He says, sorry we can not say anything regarding passports and put the phone down.
Generally speaking , staff in BHC I dont know Whether they are pakistani or not, but there behaviour with us is completely Unfair. Which clearly depicts that they consider us nothing but a trouble.
Furthermore, I have sent an email to appeal section lets see. However, my University classes here in pakistan will start on 25th. Therefore, for a short period of time I may not write in this blog.
Remember brothers and sisters keep posting in this blog, because this is only the hope left otherwise, we will not be able to get any kind of solid information from our consultants or somewhere else.

Latest Update:- My one of the friend who submitted his passport with me at the same time and same location has finally got his passport back after an allowed appeal ( student visa ). He received a phone call by Gerrys Fedex at 12:45 and his visa endorsed in Islamabad.

my class date is 27 jan.2010 that is the reason i have mailed them but they said there is know way we can make that process fast or any thing like that all the case like mine have to wait for the turn to come

salam guys,at last i got some good news,i got my pp with visa ,funny thing is when i submitted my pp it was 19 jan and my visa was stamped on 20 jan and i got a call from fedex right after 5 days to collect my pp,just to refresh ur memory my xase was allowed appeal i got my calling letter in october 2009 submit nahi kara raha tha cause of the backlog i thought k kuch ghalat na ho gie,so i did it this year in jan and everything went smothly,i wana thank all of u here for providing valuable info and supporting each other,adil dont know if u will see my msg or not but i will truely pray for u and all who r waitting for ther visas i know its difficult to understand but yar saber karo sub acha ho ga if u guys need any other info do ask ill answer u all.

@Usman, yar for intended tate of trave just type ur desired date of travel when you want to go,for this you have ttype your dates on a smple paper and at the end type your name ,addresss and pp number,and abt the passport i think they r asking about your passport to stamp visa on it.

@a father, i think in most cases they call you up and tell you the required docs…you just have to either scan them and send or maybe by hand in Gerry’s…Whatever they tell you to do over the phone….

AOA Can anyone tell me if it is better to sumbit your visa application in Islamabad instead of Lahore? Do you think that application received throuGH VAC are processed quicker if handed in Islamabad than Lahore?
I need to make a fresh application for my husband. The lawyer has advised me that instead of going through High Court where the Judge will probably give me the same decision as the Senior Immigration Judge it is better that I make a fresh application. Has anyone had experience of this before.

Today i got another email from BHC abu dhabi. its as follows
“Dear Sir,
Thank you for your email. We are following up on this application. Kindly wait to be contacted by the VAC for the collection of your documents
Visa Correspondence Team
British Embassy, Abu Dhabi”
and two weeks ago they emailed me that they already processed the applicaiton.
any one have same experiences?

hey guys i want to apply for student visa for 1 year but time is too short i cudnt send my documents to IBCC and BISE, bcoz they took more then 2 or 3 weeks to stamp..
does it effect to my visa application if i submit my documents without testation, or embasy can verified it frm IBCC or BISE

hi …im Adeel malik and guys i applied for my student visa on 5th of november 2009 and now its 29th january 2010…i did’nt get any response from homeoffice …its been 85 days since i submit my application…i wanna know How long i have to wait for???
