KARACHI: The rupee moved upward against the dollar in the interbank market, dealers said Tuesday.
The dollar started the day’s trading at Rs 80.54 for buying and closed at Rs 80.48 for buying and Rs 80.53 for selling. Therefore, the national currency gained six paisas.
The euro continued with its dominant behaviour against rupee. It started the day’s trading at Rs 109.51 for buying and closed at Rs 109.77 for buying and Rs 109.97 for selling.
Similarly, the pound remained upbeat against the rupee. It started the day’s trading at Rs 121.80 for buying and closed at Rs 122.48 for buying and Rs 122.68 for selling.
Open market: The rupee recovered major grounds against the dollar, dealers said. The greenback commenced the day’s trading at Rs 80.50 for buying, lost strength and closed at Rs 80.30 for buying and Rs 80.90 for selling. Therefore, the national currency incurred a gain of 20 piasas.
Similarly, the rupee was also up against the euro. The euro started the day’s trading at Rs 109.00 for buying and after losing strength closed at Rs 107.81 for buying and Rs 110.22 for selling. Therefore, the national currency incurred a gain of Rs 1.19.
The local currency also gained 45 paisas against the British currency. The euro started the day’s trading at Rs 121.40 for buying, depreciated and closed at Rs 120.95 for buying and Rs 123.37 for selling. Daily Times
