Many friends have enquired about availability of solar electric systems in Pakistan. I tried to contact many companies, claiming to have such systems including Siemens Pakistan, they did respond to my emails but failed to give any further information.
Today there is a news item from APP about the offer from Highnoon Group to electrify one village. I just found their website and have gathered some information from there, which is being posted here. I shall continue my search about solar systems and update visiting friends. I have decided to create a separate category about energy in order to gather all the information under one category because energy is the main issue these days in Pakistan; we have to explore new ways to have cheaper energy sources.

40 Kw Pennels with only 5 hours is not good enough. The sunset in Pakistan is at about 7.00 pm and sunrise is about 5 am.
The nights are hot and need Air Conditioning for atleast 8 hours.
Based on your calculations the Solor Cells and the number of battries required to maintain 8 hours backup.

As you want to build cold storage i would recommend, you opt for other energy sources, like wind or bio gas.
Solar power systems for such big projects are very expensive and furthermore, they need huge amount of batteries to store the energy for rainy and cloudy days.
We at PV SOLAR are importers and installers of Solar panels, but i would not recommend them for such big installations.
As for your estimates it would cost 550Rs. per watt (including MPPT controllers, Pure sine wave inverters and batteries,installation, aluminium brackets)
If you chose wind energy, you can get all the energy you need in just 3 million Rs.
Bio gas is even cheaper than wind. It only takes 17lakh rs to prepare a biogas plant for your big needs.

I have seen your mail, for information we have installed 16 Solar Pumps of 5kw each at ALI Pur, dist Muzaffargarh and 2 at Mudwala district Muzaffargarh near bank of river at Basti Mehmood and at Gagrewali around 4.5 Km from Permit Chock 8 km away from Ali Pur, All of these pumps are functional and can be inspected any time you can call me at my cell 0300 840 5816 and get the location nearest to you, We are not going to say anything but you can see them functional, ask everything from the user and get comments. we still have more 15 pumps in pipeline and expected to be final in near future.
My suggestion, it is not feasible to run the solar system on batteries for 24 hrs,but if you are going to use the system from 8;30 to 3;30 pm in winter and from 6:30 to 5:pm in summer it will be feasible peak performance at 850 watts/msq to 950 watts/msq and above of light intensity. replacement of deep cycle batteries after 5~6 years and the initial cost of the system wl be at higher side which is not bearable.

1kw with 8hrs backup with chinese solar panels and american inverter inbuilt controller, panel stands, cables, batteries 4×120 amperes will cost you 4.5 lacs … watt consumption can be dropped if you use solar accessories like solar fans and ceiling fans bulbs etc …

Someof the information in the article & string is old and I want to update the readers. High Noon Solar is closed but there are many other companies jumped into the solar business, which is good sign but one should be careful in selecting vendor as lack of know how about solar products may lead to under capacity or faulty products.
The prices of PV panels has come down to Rs.150/Wp to Rs.210/Wp. The cost of solar system with 2 hours back up is around Rs.300/Wp. Exclude AC from solar system as it is too costly to run AC with solar energy.
Government has recently exempted solar panels and systems from import duty and sale tax.

You can run only a fan and 3 energy savers of 11w only no computer over 200w system, for a desktop computer you need more 350 watts or for laptop 86~95 watts.So you can add up in your 200w required system according to your requirement.

No NOC or any other document is required by KESC or Wapda, now govt himself promoting to place solar panels for domestic use as well as irrigation, Govt planning to give subsidy for solar tube wells and facilitating the model villages to install small home solar solutions in flood victim areas and specially where there is no grid available.

I have seen your mail, approx calculations are as follows:
4 Celing fans = 400 w
2 Padestal fans= 300 w ( fan watts varies depending on the manufacturer)
6 Energy Savers= 150 w (24 w each)
1 fridge 16 cuft = 250 w (approx)

1 iron = 1000 w
centrifugal pump = 1500 w (4.5 amp)
turbine = 2000 w (9 amp)

3000 w
Items which are consuming 3000w will run only for short interval of time , turbine for 20 ~45 min depending on the storage tank, then iron for 60 min daily for domestic use(max) where family consist of 4 elders and 4 kids. so we can eliminate these items from the solar system to Wapda grid supply.
Therefore for installing a 3 Kw solar system ( 1100+2000) because all of the items will not be running at the same time. If we eliminate the 2000w from the total then we need to have only 1100 w max requirement of the system.
Our suggestion is to design a system for 1.5 Kw according to requirement and affordability. If the system is to be used as stand alone ( only from Solar Panels , No grid supply required facilitating 24 hrs through battery backup, then the cost will be more as compared to the system with duel function of charging the system from solar as well as from Wapda Supply during night times or when more than 2 days with heavy clouds ( system will automatically shift over to grid when having low voltage on batteries) (Optional facility). There are different categories of China made Inverters, USA made Outback, Apollo, Canadian made Xantrax and other manufacturers having there production under License in China.
Every product from China is not of low level, this is the demand of the consumer to have a cheaper system, whereas we say do not compromise over the product which is not certified with standard Certifications or under grade.
Now the ball is in your court, we have provided both the tracks, now people interested to have the system installed choose a track and get the quote accordingly.
