LAHORE: Besides initiating action against illegal encroachments, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has launched an operation against 103 illegal residential housing schemes in the city in order to save the citizens from the looters.

In this regard, the LDA officials demolished site office and wall of an illegal housing scheme ‘Doctor’s Society’ located near Thokar Niaz Beg.

Meanwhile, the officials of the Estate Management Directorate have completed a survey of illegally constructed buildings in Johar Town, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Sabzazar, and Allama Iqbal Town and have issued notices to the owners.

DG issue orders: Director General Lahore Development Authority Irfan Ali has issued orders regarding verification of the status of the residents of Katchiabadis before issuing registries to them. He said the ownership rights should be given to deserving people.

DG LDA visit: The DG paid a visit to LDA complex and examined the working of various departments. He directed the officials to provide relief to the masses.

  2. It is very hard to give an honest advise but if I am in your place, I shall never think of buying any thing in Formanites phase-2. If I am not wrong, it is not approved by LDA. I do not know how much budget you have but if you intend to buy in Formanites, better go for Phase-1, sooner or later you can expect to get something. Poor and lower middle class people like me and you have to be extremely careful when buying property, a lot of looters are out there to grab your lifetime savings.
    This is just my personnel point of view; please do your own research before taking final decision.

    There are no new housing schemes as yet but there are older schemes. Lahore scheme on Raiwind road is complete and at prime location but not yet populated. Islamabad scheme is very old but development has not yet started, hopefully it will start soon.In fact OPF does not have expertise to complete such schemes and it is better to refrain from investing in OPF schemes. Anyway when any new scheme by OPF is announced, friends will be informed immidiately.

    It is stated that some years before when any person purchased house or plot in any LDA scheme, registered with district Registrar and a registry document signed and paid fee in the office of district registrar and purchaser submitted this registry to the LDA and transfer his plot or house on the basis of registry with out any transfer fees.After that LDA take over the registration process and collect fees from the transfree and transfer the plot/house himself. I think its good thing for the both buyer and seller.
    But I would like to your kind notice that those peoples who bought their houses/plots and have registry but did not transfer their houses/plots in LDA before the taking over this transfer process by the LDA, are in very trouble. when they goes to the LDA authorities they told them that you should pay Rs. 40,000/- transfer fees for transfer of your 10 marla houses/plots and also pay 10,000/- for Newspaper add.

    Sir, I request you that these expenditures may please be eliminated and allow the persons who purchased thier houses/plots in the era of Registrar or before taking over the transfer process by the LDA,

    It is very unfortunate that the developers just announce housing schemes without buying land and utilize the money of innocent people for decades without doing anything. Farmanites-II is also one of those schemes. They have very small portion of land against which they have sold a large number of paper files. Now you are struck in the middle, if you can afford to wait for 5 to 10 years then better you pay remaining amount also otherwise, bear some loss and dispose it off. You have to do your own research and decide what to do, I am not an expert in these matters. This is my personnel opinion only

    • Is there any authority in Pakistan who looks after this kind of issue from the public side? I have booked a house in Eden Lane Villas 2 in Nov 2006 of worth 30 lacs and its possession was promised in Nov 2008 but still have it is not completed. i have paid 24.5 lacs and now they have canceled my housed due to nonpayment as I have stopped my payment in Feb 2009 due to construction speed at site. I visited their office and a marketing person behave in a such manner that I felt that I m at dominating side even with the payment of 24 lacs. He said that company will return my amount in 10 installments and for that I have to given an application but when will start they don’t planned yet. Marta kia na kerta – I have applied for restoration on June 6, 2010 and said that I m ready to pay the remaining amount but still after 2 month I have get any response. Every time marketing office representative said that they have put forward my case and it s under progress. Please help me by directing me in right direction.

  13. Unfortunately in Pakistan “Justice”is for prime class only. I booked two plots in Formanites (total paid Rs 900,000/=) & now they are claimimng additiona Rs.600,000/= for one Kanal plot each. It looks total unjustice. It happened with all investors. Its an example cruelity & unjustice.
    Under such circumstances I pray Allah to show right path to the owners of the project or ruined them.

  14. I advise not to pay further payment till something is on ground. You may write a letter to the society to hold further payments due to some personal reasons.

  15. can any one please let me know is Khyaban e Amin project is registered from LDA? is this safe to buy a house there.

      To the best of my knowledge, Khyaban-i-Amin got approval from LDA but keep in mind that this scheme is far away from city center. You must visit the site before deciding to buy any property over there.

    i have two 5 marla plots in formanites housing society phase 2 and have paid 7 installment ,3 are due

    i called there office 10 months later and asked what are u doing for phase two ,they said in the end of year means dec 201,0 we will cancelled memberships of those member who didnt pay instaments in phase 1 and then adjust phase 2 members in phase 1,
    i asked them it means you dont have any land for phase 2 they said we have but first we adjust all our members in phase 1of phase 2

    so i am still waiting for there any action our any letter

    overall i am very worried about that all

      As far as I know development work in PAEC is very near to completion which means it should have been approved by LDA. In my opinion it is better to go for Bahria Town if your budget allows.
