Stress-Free Preparation for the End of Ramadan

Global property portal lists tips to prepare for Eid without leaving home

JULY 16, 2014: The global property portal Lamudi has put together a handy guide to help take the stress out of preparing the home for Eid.

In this practical guide, Lamudi takes you on a tour of the home, so you can prepare for Eid without having to step a foot out the door. Follow these steps to make sure the whole family is prepared for the upcoming end of Ramadan celebrations.

Garage or storage room. First stop is the garage. There are plenty of old home wares hidden in the dark corners of this room. Try involving your children by getting them to redecorate these forgotten items and help freshen up your home in time for Eid. Organize an afternoon workshop in your garage, invite other children from the neighborhood and show them how to upcycle these outdated pieces. Another handy tip is to make use of leftover paint. Add a splash of color to pieces of furniture and see how it livens up your living spaces.

Living room. After looking through the garage, it’s time to update your living room for the Eid festivities. Here you’ll be focusing on creating a cozy atmosphere for the end of Ramadan celebrations. Sit down with your loved ones and prepare an entertainment program for Eid. Encourage your kids to create a song for the festivities, or think of a funny play you could all participate in and present it to your relatives on Eid-ul-Fitr.

Bedroom. Avoid long queues at the shopping mall but still get the best outfit for Eid – by ordering your clothes online. You can also liven up your look with some hand-made accessories. And while you’re in the bedroom, make sure you sort out your wardrobe by putting aside your old clothes and donating them to charity.

Kitchen. Take stock of what you have in the kitchen cupboards before heading to the shops to buy food for Eid. Make the most of what you already have before buying more. Invite your relatives and friends over before the celebrations and make a list of products that are stored in everyone’s home. Brainstorm together to come up with a meal using these products.

Bathroom. Save time and money by avoiding a beauty salon right before Eid. No doubt your bathroom is already well stocked with everything you need to look gorgeous on the day. Our advice? Perhaps you can look up your grandmother’s old recipe for how to hydrate your skin using homemade face masks. Or head online to get inspired by simple, easy-to-follow hair tutorials.
