Higher Education Commission is publishing a book on ‘Quality Assurance in Higher Education: A Global Perspective’.
The forthcoming monograph is a result of reviewed papers presented in an international conference and edited by Dr. Abdul Raouf, HEC Distinguished National Professor, University of Management and Technology Lahore and Professor Dr. Niaz Akhtar, director, Institute of Technology and Management, University of Punjab.
The impact of quality assurance processes in higher education institutions, the role of quality assurance agencies in the 21st century, accreditation and quality assurance in university education in developing countries, quality in contemporary higher education and the role of academic governance and the quality assurance policy for higher education in developing countries are elaborated in the depth in the first part of the book. The monograph is divided into four parts and contains fifteen chapters. First part of the book is titled ‘Quality in Higher Education: An International Perspective’ and has five chapters.
Second part of the book focuses on quality related factors such as human resource management and quality assurance in a public sector university, integration of quality management systems for universities, professional development of academics and its needs assessment, the performance indicators of an institute of higher learning and methods of grading performance in educational institutions.
Third part of the book focuses on Quality Assurance Practices being practiced in selected countries. The practitioner’s view regarding the use of EFQM, BNQA and ISO 9001 in higher education, the Jordanian experience of quality assurance in higher education, monitoring and managing quality in higher education are discussed. This book also deals with the quality in medical education through an analysis of the existing international medical education system in terms of teaching and learning practices.
The book will be available to students, teachers and researchers for reading the end of April 2008 from HEC – Secretariat, Islamabad.
