Pakistan Budget 2012-13: 10 percent raise in employees salaries

  • by

Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar has announced to raise salaries of government employees by 10 percent following recommendations of the committee.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had constituted a committee to review the possibility of an increase in the salaries of government servants on late Thursday.

The committee proposed 7.5 percent raise in the salaries, however, Dar said the government has increased it by 10 percent.

PML-N budget was widely criticised for not giving any salary raise or incentives to the public while the prices of all commodities including milk, sugar, cigarettes, petrol, diesel and CNG were raised because of the raise in the GST.

The government had not increased any salary in the budget announcement that had created unrest among the government servants and lower grade employees of the public sector.

On Saturday, Dar said raise in salary of government employees would be effective from July 01.
