UAE Envoy visits flood affected areas of Sindh

Sindh, October 12: The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Pakistan, His Excellency Eissa Abdullah Al Basha Al Nuaimi, on Tuesday showed his strong commitment towards the greater human cause of helping the poor and struggling people of Sindh, currently confronting devastating flood. He was warmly received by the Brig. Khan Ghais-ud-din, Commander 56 Brigade, district Sanghar.

He visited and joined a team of prominent five UAE’s charitable foundations and organizations already carrying out distribution of relief goods in Sanghar district as a part of its ongoing humanitarian assistance in the different swamped districts of Sindh province.

The envoy was accompanied by UAE team which consisted of UAE Armed Forces, Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation, UAE Red Crescent, Zayed foundation for humanitarian and charitable work and Sharja Charitable Society and members of the UAE Embassy.

They all witnessed wrecked houses, ruined cashable crops, derelict infrastructure and colossal catastrophic flood’s effects on the daily lives of most pretentious people. There were large numbers of internally displaced people (IDPs) in the area, battling out their survival. According to Government of Pakistan (GOP) more than 10 million people in Sindh have been badly affected from the flood. It created a large scale human crisis. Even livestock was badly suffered.

The UAE Relief team briefed Ambassador Al Noaimi on their diversified but integrated relief operations in different districts of the province and appreciated the extended spells of coordination of the local authorities, government machinery and the Armed Forces of Pakistan, providing suitable/dry places for Relief Camps and facilitating the distribution drive of different foodstuffs among the most affected victims of flood.

Ambassdor Noiami expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the dealing concerned people, organizations and authorities, helping the UAE team carrying out its gracious cause of humanitarian assistance. He told reporters that H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE immediately responded the relief appeal made by the government of Pakistan and advised for the generous humanitarian assistance. He assured that existing humanitarian assistance will be continued along with the successfully going on Emirati Quick Impact Development Projects in Pakistan already, gathered momentous appreciation from GOP and its people. The flourishing trustworthy and time-tested relations between the two countries were laid down by the founding father Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and successive governments of Pakistan which is further strengthened by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of UAE and Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Pakistan.

He proudly said that UAE charitable organizations were among the first one to reach in Pakistan and started its gigantic relief activities in the troubled areas/districts of the province. UAE relief team activities including distribution of foodstuff have succeeded to lessen some basic problems of the downtrodden people, he added.

He told his visit to Sanghar district was a follow up of the relief work by the UAE Team that rigorously engaged with diversified humanitarian assistance activities not confined to distribution of tents, flour, rice , sugar, cereals, tea, mosquito nets among the affected families in the floods hit areas and arranged necessary medication too through the supply of medicines. Moreover, water purification plants were also donated for safe and clean drinking water supplies in these areas.
