The humid conditions and moderate temperatures during Monsoon create perfect conditions for the spread of diseases but some slight precautions may help maintaining good health.
“The growth of bacteria is caused by high humidity and a temperature that is neither too high nor too low. It results in diseases like jaundice, malaria, typhoid, cholera, cough, cold, fever and flu, but precautionary measure may help preventing such diseases”, a senior physician told BBC.
The cleaning up of stagnant water bodies, overflowing drains, leaky walls and roofs is a must during the rainy season. Use of repellants to prevent mosquito bites and the use of clean drinking water is important for staying healthy during Monsoon.
A medical officer said, “People should ensure that the water they drink is pure. The household should be kept clean at all times and special attention should be paid to the hygiene of kids.”
One should bathe regularly and wash hands with soap frequently to prevent fungal infections. Desert coolers should be cleaned once in a while and all water reservoirs and tanks should be covered, said a doctor while talking to BBC.
Boosting one’s immune system also plays significant role in fighting with monsoon diseases. Regular consumption of Immune-nutrients which are present in numerous food items help building the body’s immunity and enhance its ability to fight infection.
The natural immune system protects us with its enormous variety of defense mechanisms. It becomes stronger and more capable of handling threats when it is successful in containing an infection on its own.
