Lahore: Allotment of cheap houses to be transparent

CHIEF Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif said that the Punjab government is launching a low-cost housing scheme and a procedure is being expeditiously evolved for this purpose. Presiding over a meeting to review the pace of implementation of the low-cost housing scheme on Wednesday, he said the scheme would be completely transparent and allotment of the houses under the scheme would be made in front of the media. He said in the first phase, five low-cost housing schemes would be launched in as many districts while later the scope of the scheme would be extended to the whole province.

Shahbaz said the Land Development Company was also being set up which would be responsible for transparency in the completion of the project. He said provision of all the basic facilities and timely completion of the project should be ensured while a media campaign should also be launched so that eligible persons could apply for houses.

The chief minister also approved the logo of the low-cost housing scheme. Earlier, Advisory Council Secretary Haroon Khawaja apprised the meeting of the pace of work on the project.
