Latest news at Garry’s website

7 January 2010: Changes to the child visitor immigration rules from 1 January 2010. The changes apply to exchange or educational visits to a school in the UK for up to 6 months. For more information about the changes please visit the UK Border Agency website.

04 January 2010: British passport holders and dependent visa applications. If you, or any dependents you want to travel with, are applying for a first time British passport at the same time as applying for a UK settlement visa for a dependent relative, you are strongly advised to delay your UK dependent visa application until your British passport has been issued. First time British passport applications may take longer to process than a UK dependent visa. If you apply for both at the same time, then your UK visa may expire before you can travel and you may have to reapply and pay another fee.

21 December 2009: Update on settlement application processing times. The UK Border Agency is now pleased to inform customers that the backlog of settlement applications has been reduced. Most settlement applications will now be processed within 12 weeks.

30 November 2009: Fingerprint checks at the UK border. From 30 November 2009 the UK Border Agency is introducing fingerprint checks at the border for passengers with biometric UK visas. On arrival in the UK, passengers will have their fingerprints scanned at border control in addition to the normal checks that take place. The fingerprints provided will be checked to verify that the individual entering the UK is the same person who gave their biometric data when they applied for their visa. In the majority of cases the passenger’s right hand thumb and first finger will be used for the check. For more information about fingerprint checks and exemptions please visit the UK Border Agency website.

6 November 2009: Delays to settlement visa applications. There is currently a backlog of settlement applications which are currently taking 12 weeks or longer to process. The UK Border Agency is working hard to reduce this backlog. Please take this in to account when deciding when to make your settlement application or if you are waiting for a decision on your settlement visa application to be processed. If you have an enquiry about a settlement application, please send your email to UKHUB.PAKISTANGeneralEnquiries@fco.gov.uk.

  7. AOA
almost same situation we are having which had been faced by many last year same time frame mid – Last 2009.
only the representatives from UK has been changed now there are
1 – Andrew Mitchell, Secretary of State for International Development
2 – William Hague, The Foreign Secretary & now
3 – Sayeeda Warsi, Cabinet Minister and Chairman of the Conservative Party.
    But all in vein
I read out today in The NEWS about that during her meeting with Prime Minister & President the issue of STUDENT VISA been discussed, good BUT where are WE SETTLEMENT VISA
especially peoples those have won their APPEALS by the IMMIGRATION JUDGES, where dowe stand??????????????????????

I’m pasting the old blog of W. Shah which almost reflects the pain of SETTLEMENT VISA seekers

    Delay in British visas

I have been reading stories in different newspapers about visa delays by British High Commission Islamabad and UK Home Secretary Alan Johnson has meet President Zardari and PM Yusuf Raza Gilani and this issue been raised by them. However one is dismayed to note that they have been mostly talking about students visa and business visas etc.

I just want to appeal to British High Commission and Mr Alan Johnson Home Sectary UK that there are some other type as well, such as settlement visa and allowed appeal cases etc.

We are victim of these delays as well. Our appeals have been allowed by Asylum and Immigration Tribunal UK. Many people are waiting for so many months for a call and some are waiting for their passport back. I am victim of this process as well I have re submitted my passport and it was 3 months ago. There are people in worse condition too. I know some people who have been waiting for more then 6 months without a reply. We are away from our families and partners for a long time as it took more than a year for appeal. It is indefensible for the British High Commission to take so long just to stamp a visa.

And more worrisome is that there is no time frame for such of cases. If we call Gerry’s they say time frame is INDEFINITE which is totally unfair. This inordinate delay has even broken many marriages. There are some unfortunate persons who in accordance with requirements of law submitted TB certificate with their applications. If six months elapse the application is liable to be returned for a fresh TB certificate which is very bothersome. This is absolutely unfair.

It is good to learn that the British High Commission has a mind to clear the backlog. I am sure the authorities in British High Commission will take a compassionate view of all visa cases.

    W. Shah

Is there anyone in Pakistan Government or British Government who can help us?
Do We the present of Pakistan & the FUTURE of UK & Pakistan both deserve what we’ve been going through?

    Does anyone have any solution or advice regarding this suation we’re having;

Will it bother our Governments that how much pain we’re bearing?……..
Specially those who have applied for the Spouse / Settlement VISA?…….

Do both the Governments Pakistan & UK ever think about the people like us those are Pakistani national & Applied to get settled in UK & Inshallah become British National as well (Dual Nationality Holders), How worstly they are treating us? We’ve been ignored & they’re insulting us!!!!!.
How much severe pain we’re bearing?
How much we’re under stress mentally?
God Forbid what happened if our marriages come at sake?
Believe it or not almost everyone of us are in tears tta O’My Lord what the hell? Was applying for a UK Settlement VISA (Spouse Visa) is such a HUGE punishment, or its been made punishment for us (PAKISTANIS’) as compare to Indians…..
I don’t want to make it more lengthy, words & thoughts are fighting in my mind to come out but I’m controlling them ,I don’t want anything to affect on my VISA process………

All I can say is please, please, please, please, please, please, pray for me & my prayers are for everyone who has applied for a VISA (Specially UK) whether visit, Medical, Student & most important SETTLEMENT.
SPOUSE VISA seekers’ life comes to a FULL STOP, both the partners casn’t plan anything on long terms….rest you all know very well.
PLEASE remember me in your prayers.

Can any body advise, how long does it take for UK transit visa to be processed?

    Regards,
    Rashid

    • no one knows brother, and dont even think about applying for transit visa from pakistan, they will hold ur PP for good and u will be stuck .

  12. I am so annoyed at the UK Border Agency.
They need to do a swift and thorough job of granting people visas.
And it can take upto 9 MONTHS for an appeal or visa to be granted?? ARE THEY MAD?
Heaven forbid, marriages break down due to so many years and months passing without ones spouse.
If i could move to another country, i would. But im in the UK and sometimes the laws are SO harsh and unjustifiable!
Im waiting on my husbands visa, I got a feeling it will be rejected due to communication breakdown.
I dont know what to do!
Im sick and tired of hearing that people have been waiting a certain amount of time and then the authorities not paying attention, its a JOKE!

    • And now my application status has changed to ‘Visa application is under process at the British High Commission 05/12/2010′
WHAT does the date mean? :/
      YA ALLAH!!

  13. @sanah
It simply means that the British High Commission has received your application and it is being looked into to see if they can issue the visa. You will hear from them when they have made a decision.

July 2010: Student Tier 4 visa applications – apply early. During our busy summer period, it is important that you submit your Tier 4 points-based system visa application in good time. This will allow us enough time to process your visa application and for you to attend the start of your course. To enable you to do this you can apply for your visa within 3 months of the start date of your intended course. For courses longer than 6 months your visa will be valid for travel from 1 month prior to the start date of the course. If your course is less than 6 months you will only be allowed to travel up to 7 days before the start of your course. To find out about our most recent visa application processing times, please see the ‘Guide to Processing Times’ page on this web

  40. Is anone enrolled or thinking to enrol in london school of business and finance?
I am asking because i need some info in relation to cas letters.

  41. It seems the embassy loves to issue student visas to the UK and you have probably guessed the reason why??? Well for those who do not know, well the UK has run out of money and the government is using all these students to bail them out!!!! You will pay high living expenses and fees and you will probably not find any jobs either. So once the government has used you, you will go home penniless!!!
I have heard so many students on the phone, probably calling home complaining of high living expenses. So whilst you are happy in getting your student visas just make sure you bring lots of money with you. Good Luck.

  42. HI all

  43. Assalam u alaikum all,

Can someone please tell me about any recently changes introduced by VACenters in pakistan to take only photocopies of all supporting documents even they are also taking only the photocopy of filled application form as wel.

Actually i’m in UK as work permit holder and applied just 2 or 3 days before for my son’s entry clearance visa. My wife took filled application VAF2 form and all other supporting documents (Original and photocopies) with her to VAC, Islamabad. After successfuly submission on her way back to home she got call from VAC to get back your original documents as we dont need original papers just only we need are photocopies. As these rules have recetnly been introduced to take photocopies of all papers rather than to take orginal papers. So from now they will check original papers only on VAC desk.

Is there any body got the same problem with him/her at VAC. Please let me know. Im much worried about what did they do and why ? JazakaAllah

  44. aoa,
Can anyone tell what does it meaan .

    PROCESSED APPLICATION RETURNED AT AC

i applied for my son’s entery clearance application as a dependant of work permit holder. Yesterday online tracking status chaged to above statement but i dont know what does it mean.

    JazakAllah.

    • ac mean application center where u submit ur application hopfully you can have your passport back with in two days max anyway best of luck

    DEAR SIR/ MADAM
i have 1 friend there UK he said i will apply for your student visa he is national there but the problem is my Education is Only High school its possible he can process visa for me …. am waiting for Ur good response thx

  46. hi dear friends.i apply for my wife spouse visa, but it had been 3months i had no repaly from them.if the case take long does it mean they will refuse it .thank u if any one can help me to answer .

  47. salam
my name is atif and i am in uk on hsmp visa, previously member of this forum,
i will try my best to reply the questions of memebers of this forum
    @jawad
for high school qualification it is very hard to apply for study visa at least you have done A-LEVEL or FA/FSC so you can apply for undergraduate programmes.

  48. @javeed

it does not mean they will refuse visa, they just taking time, specially from south asia region/pakistan there is large number of applicants so they need time to sort it out, INSHALLAH spouse visa if documents are correct they rarely refused, most of them get visa
    take care all

  49. @ali
i know you are completely frusted person but
    please dont panic,
you should fax that refusal to college management or email them because u know on reception level people at colleges they are doing multitaking many job at a time, i think that person miss the home office call so that why they refused.
please know you right , you are the customer of your college, give them wake up call to higher management
and convince them thay get blame for all that.
if they satisfied with your fax then beleive me the college management will be active and they will response on the behalf of you. customer should be at front end then why you are at back end, dont blame home office they just call once or twice if they got no response then simply refused.
please address your problem to correct channel.
i wish you be here and study well, learn well and serve nation
    take care

  50. @SHAHEEN

WELL SAID, dear all students point should be noted.
